At these times, a twin feeding pillow is indispensable

This guest blog was written by Sherana. She is an amazing mom blogger and proud mom of twins: Jay & Liya. Besides all the adventures that motherhood brings, she writes inspiring stories about her life with two little ones and her experience with breastfeeding. In this blog she shares the moments when for her a twin feeding pillow is indispensable.

During my pregnancy, I purchased Ilmaha's teddy twin feeding pillow. "Handy to have around the house in advance for when the babies are born soon." was my thought at first. After all, I knew pretty quickly that I wanted to breastfeed my twins. But what I didn't know then was that the twin feeding pillow could offer me support at many more times.

Twin feeding pillow indispensable when breastfeeding at the same time

I really wanted to breastfeed my twins. In the beginning, all three of us had to get used to it. Breastfeeding twins is no mean feat, but a nursing pillow designed for twins makes it a lot more comfortable. For the first nine months, I used my twin feeding pillow up to eight times a day. I usually laid my twins in the back or parallel position. Not only does the feeding pillow provide support for your back and arms, it also makes it easier to maintain good posture while tandem feeding.

Even if you plan to bottle-feed your twins, it is handy to have the twin feeding pillow around the house. When my babies were still ieniemini, I sometimes found it difficult to put them on at the same time when I was alone with them. I therefore pumped once or twice a day for the first few months. That way I could give them both a bottle of pumped milk at the same time. When it was time for their bottles I put them both in the twin feeding pillow. I would tilt their heads to the right one time and to the left the next. I then placed a rolled up hydrophilic cloth next to each baby and their bottle on top. After practicing for a while, this way they were both able to empty their bottles independently, and I had my hands free for a while.

Learning to sit up independently is a learning process that involves trial and error. But, of course, you don't want your twins to hurt themselves. By putting the twin feeding pillow around them, you create a soft landing for your little ones.

Twin feeding pillow indispensable during tummy time

My son always had a big smile on his face during tummy time. My daughter hated it! It also seemed to frustrate her tremendously that her brother was succeeding. My gut told me she needed some extra support. So I decided to lay her down on her tummy - on the twin feeding pillow - for a few minutes every day. My daughter discovered a new perspective on the world and no longer hated tummy time.
